The London Guitar Academy’s Beginners Academy is a premier guitar course designed to transform beginners into confident players over eight dynamic weeks. Our group setting not only makes learning fun but also allows you to connect with fellow novices, share your progress, and maybe even form the next big band! Do I Need Any Prior Experience? Absolutely not! If you’ve never held a guitar or if you’ve only strummed a few chords years ago and can’t remember which way up the instrument goes, you’re still a perfect fit for our Academy. Our goal is to guide you from the basics to proficiency, no matter where you start. What’s the Experience Like? Expect a vibrant and enjoyable learning environment! Our eight weekly, hour-and-a-half sessions focus on:

  • “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes
These riffs are great for practicing technique and starting to play recognizable tunes. Mastering Chords With some riffs under your belt, we’ll move on to open chords:
  • Learn Essential Chords: Play popular songs like “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King.
  • Chord Technique: Focus on finger placement and strumming patterns to make your chords ring clear and true.
Exploring Power Chords Power chords are a staple of rock and beyond:

London Guitar Academy Beginner’s Course: A Fresh Start for Aspiring Guitarists

Welcome to the London Guitar Academy Beginner’s Course! This program is crafted to take you from the very beginning stages of guitar playing, from picking the right instrument and tuning it, to mastering your first chords and playing some exciting songs. In today's internet-driven world, learning guitar can feel overwhelming. With so much information—both helpful and misleading—it's tough for beginners to know where to begin. Everyone claims to be an expert, and it can be hard to filter out the noise. My goal with this course is to give you a clear, structured path that takes the guesswork out of learning guitar, focusing on real music and songs that will have you playing confidently in no time. This course covers all the fundamental skills that every new guitarist should know, whether you dream of playing  rock or fingerpicking intricate folk tunes. I won’t overwhelm you with heavy music theory or complicated exercises. Instead, we’ll focus on solid technique, rhythm, and getting your fingers on the fretboard to play real music as quickly as possible. You don't need any prior musical experience—just the willingness to learn. While this may not be the only way to learn guitar, it’s a method that has worked for many of my private students over the years. It’s not always easy, but the joy and sense of accomplishment are well worth it. Stick with it, and playing guitar will become one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of your life.
